Home Office minister Lord Hanson has welcomed a prisoner swap with Russia which saw the return of American journalist Evan Gershkovich to the US and dual British-Russian citizen Vladimir Kara-Murza.

A major prisoner exchange between Russia and the west is underway involving the Wall Street Journal reporter Evan Gershkovich, who has been freed from Russian custody, new agency Reuters reported.,,The significant prisoner exchange involve 26 individuals from seven countries, Reuters reported citing Turkish security sources. The Turkish presidency also confirmed that prisoners from the United States, Germany, Poland, Slovenia, Norway, Russia, and Belarus are part of this swap. As part of the agreement, ten prisoners, including two minors, have been relocated to Russia, 13 prisoners have been sent to Germany, and three prisoners are being transferred to the United States.
