In the aftermath of Turkish shooter Yusuf Dikec's unexpected rise to internet fame for his relaxed style at the Paris Olympics 2024, another striking image emerged online, quickly captivating social media users.
The photograph, which seemingly depicted a man aiming at a target behind him while looking into a mirror, was lauded as a display of extraordinary skill.
Many quickly dubbed the unidentified shooter as a "new legend" and speculated about his participation in the ongoing Olympics.
However, the excitement was short-lived as investigations revealed the viral photograph to be a clever fabrication.
The image, which was circulating with claims of being from the Paris Olympics, was actually a product of Photoshop.
The man in the picture is not an Olympic marksman but rather Pongsak Pongsuwan, a well-known actor and comedian from Thailand.
The image was a still from the popular Thai game show "Ching Roi Ching Lan," where Pongsuwan had performed a comedic skit.
The background of the Paris Olympics was added to the image, misleading many into believing it was a real event.
