MTV VMA Nominations Revealed, Actress Patti Yasutake Dead at 70, Pitbull to Pay More Than $5 Million to Name Florida Internation
MTV VMA nominations announced, Taylor Swift leads with 10 nods.
Swift, who currently holds the record for most video of the year wins, earned nominations for top categories such as video of the year, artist of the year, song of the year, best collaboration, and best direction, amongst others.
The pop singer shares multiple nominations with rapper and collaborator Post Malone, who follows behind with 9 nods.
Other artists who earned multiple nominations include Ariana Grande, Eminem and Sabrina Carpenter, each with six, and Megan Thee Stallion and SZA both earning 5.
Actress Patti Yasutake dies at 70.
The actress best known for her role as Nurse Alyssa Ogawa in the Star Trek franchise passed away on Monday, August 5 after a long-term battle with cancer.
Her passing was confirmed by manager Kyle Fritz.
Outside of her work on Star Trek , Yasutake starred in a variety of television shows and films, including and most recently, a starring role as Fumi Nakai in Netflix's 2023 hit series Beef .
Pitbull purchases naming rights to Florida International University football stadium.
A vote was conducted by the FIU board of trustees on Tuesday approving a 5 year deal which will result in a name change of the school's football stadium.
What was formerly known as FIU Stadium will now be recognized as Pitbull Stadium, after the rapper and singer acquired the naming rights for $1.2 million per year.
Other terms of the deal include social media promotion about the school by the rapper, an appearance at one athletics fundraising event per year, and the creation of a new anthem for the school.
On the other end, Pitbull will also acquire full access to the stadium 10 days per year, and his vodka brand Voli 305 will be the preferred brand distributed in the stadium.
