Israeli television has broadcast disturbing CCTV footage that allegedly shows Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers sexually abusing a Palestinian detainee at the Sde Teiman detention facility in the Negev region.
The video, which has sparked widespread outrage, shows dozens of prisoners lying face down with their hands on their heads, while one prisoner is led away to a secluded corner where the alleged abuse takes place.
The footage reveals three soldiers using shields to obscure their actions from view, while a military dog on a lead barks fiercely just a metre away from the detainee.
The incident, which reportedly occurred in July, has drawn severe criticism from international bodies and governments.
Israel has launched a wave of air strikes across Gaza, with northern Gaza City now a primary target following evacuation warnings from the Israeli military. At least 80 Palestinians have been killed since dawn, with dozens more wounded. Among the attacks was a strike on Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir el-Balah, raising fears of an impending and intensified ground offensive. The strikes come amid growing international concern over escalating civilian casualties and the targeting of critical infrastructure in one of the regionâs most densely populated areas.
