Independence Day 2024: The Story of Bawani Imli, the Heroism and Heartache of Jodha Singh| Exclusive
The 'Bawani Imli' memorial in Paradan village, Uttar Pradesh, commemorates Shaheed Jodha Singh and 52 other freedom fighters hanged by the British in 1858.
This site holds significant historical importance as a symbol of bravery and sacrifice during India's struggle for independence.
The One India team has prepared a special report exploring the current state of the memorial and its continued relevance.
On the occasion of Independence day, we visited the renowned cellular jail in Dehradun and that ward where the first PM of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru was jailed many times. It is also known as Nehru Heritage Centre. Pandit Nehru was sent to this jail for the first time in the year 1932 during the British rule. After which he was imprisoned here in 1934, 1935 and 1941 also.
