Prime Minister Narendra Modi has apologized for the collapse of the 35-foot-tall Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj statue at Rajkot Fort, which fell eight months after its inauguration.

Modi expressed regret to Shivaji’s followers and the public, emphasizing that such incidents are deeply hurtful to those who revere Shivaji.

The statue, meant to honor Shivaji’s legacy in maritime defense, collapsed on August 26 in Sindhudurg district.
