Divided opinions at Karnataka Film Chamber Meeting on abuse in Kannada Film Industry
Bengaluru, Karnataka: A meeting was held at the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce, presided over by State Women Commission Chairperson Nagalakshmi Chaudhry, to address sexual and other abuses in the Kannada film industry.
Noted actresses Bhawana, Sanjana Garlani, Tara, and director Kavita Lankesh attended along with other artists and workers.
The aim was to form a committee to prevent sexual offences.
The meeting was divided, with some suggesting a separate womenβs association and others advocating for existing unions and police involvement.
Despite the 3-hour discussion, no conclusion was reached, but participants expressed hope for a concrete forum to address the issue.
