Domestic abuse experts to be embedded in 999 control rooms
The first wave of police forces will start embedding domestic abuse specialists in their 999 control rooms early next year to stop emergency services missing opportunities to save women’s lives.
The move is part of “Raneem’s Law”, named after Raneem Oudeh, to transform the way the police handle cases of violence against women and girls.

The home secretary lashed out at the summer rioters during a speech at the Labour conference in Liverpool. Yvette Cooper condemned the riots which took place following the Southport stabbings which claimed the lives of three children. "Don't anyone tell me that was protest. It was arson, it was racism, it was thuggery, it was crime," she said.

The home secretary outlined the government's plans for 'safer streets' during a speech at the Labour conference in Liverpool. A teenager has been detained for life and will serve a minimum of 17 years for stabbing his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend to death in the street. Logan MacPhail, then aged 16, stalked Holly Newton for an hour through Hexham, Northumberland, before knifing her 36 times in an alleyway.
