Nursing staff and doctors with long Covid are still being denied essential financial support, two years after the government’s own scientific advisory body recommended action, according to the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). Sir Keir Starmer said the UK must "double down" it's support for Ukraine after returning from the G20 summit in Brazil. Addressing the House of Commons on Thursday, the prime minister said it "could not be more clear" that "this is a man that wants destruction, not peace".

The energy minister has admitted the winter fuel payment cut was a "tough call" by the chancellor. Miatta Fahnbulleh urged pensioners struggling with their energy bills to get in touch with their suppliers. "We announced yesterday that there will be ÂŁ500 million worth of support available to people this winter.
