Portugal to use €500 million from European funds for wildfire recovery
Portugal has received authorisation from the European Commission to access €500 million from cohesion funds to help cover the damage caused by the fires.
Regions in Portugal, Greece, and Romania reported the highest fatality rates. While EU-wide road deaths rose by about 9% between 2020 and 2022, the long-term trend offers hope.
