Weekend in Taipei, formerly known as Weekend Escape Project, is directed by the Taiwanese-American filmmaker George Huang, director of the films Swimming with Sharks, Trojan War, and How to Make a Monster, plus the TV series "American Heiress" most recently.

The screenplay is written by Luc Besson and George Huang.
