Innovative software and hardware for maximum electric range: The Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid uses a range of special technologies that ensure the best possible drive efficiency.
Depending on the vehicle specifications, one battery charge is enough for up to 106 kilometers (according to WLTP) in pure city traffic, and the range is up to 68 kilometers in the combined WLTP cycle.
The Predictive Efficient Drive System, which is always standard, takes the road and traffic conditions ahead into account and continuously learns which routes and driving style the driver regularly uses.
The new geofencing function analyzes the planned route and automatically switches between EV and hybrid mode to ensure sufficient electric range for trips in environmental zones.
If the destination is in an area that can only be driven by electric vehicles, the system ensures that the battery charge is sufficient to cover the entire distance in purely electric mode.
Using data from previous trips, the system identifies typical braking points and automatically increases the engine braking force to optimize energy recovery when braking.
As soon as journeys on motorways or uphill that require additional power are imminent, the vehicle proactively selects hybrid mode to charge the battery for the expected high demand, which further improves fuel efficiency.
In addition to battery heating and cooling, a heat pump is also on board as standard, which uses thermal energy from the environment to air-condition the interior and thus reduces the influence of the air conditioning on the range.
If the battery is discharged on longer journeys, the Toyota C-HR Plug-in Hybrid automatically switches to hybrid mode.
A WLTP consumption of 4.7 to 4.9 liters per 100 km with a discharged battery and the associated range of around 900 kilometers underline the efficiency of the hybrid system.
