The new Lancia Rally 4 HF Design Preview
Inspired by the legendary ‘60s Fulvia Coupé HF, with which it shares its front-wheel-drive configuration, reduced dimensions, and the intense thrills of high-speed driving, the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF was created out of the collaboration between Lancia, the most successful brand in the rally world, and the Stellantis Motorsport team, which boasts 11 victories at Dakar and 27 Constructors’ titles in the World Championship Rally.
The vehicle has been further enhanced through prestigious partnerships between Lancia and some of the most famous premium brands in the automotive and racing world, including Marelli, the Italian brand which handled the engine management system; Sparco for the safety roll-bar, the seats, and the steering wheel; TM Tecnologie for the braking system; Speedline for the alloy wheels; and Supersprint for the exhaust.
The European companies involved include SADEV, which created the gearbox, and Ohlins, which provided the shock absorbers.
Furthermore, Miki Biasion, the world champion racer, contributed to the development of this car which is bringing Lancia back to the world of racing.
Currently, it is in the final fine-tuning stages and the aim is to achieve homologation by January 1, 2025 and deliver the first models at the end of January.
Today is a key moment on this busy roadmap with the official opening of orders around the world through the Stellantis Motorsport Racing Shop at a price of €74,500.
Specifically, the Ypsilon Rally 4 HF features the CMP platform in the MHEV version—used for the first time by Stellantis Motorsport and different from the one on the Group’s other Rally 4 vehicles.
The trellis-shaped welded-tube roll cage has been built on top the new platform, creating a lighter and more powerful chassis.
Furthermore, the new Lancia race car features the 1.2-liter, 3-cylinder, 4-valve-per-cylinder PureTech Turbo engine with modified turbines and exhaust, and a specific engine management system to deliver 212 HP of maximum power.
It is a highly powerful and reliable engine which is also extremely cheap in terms of cost per kilometer—an essential for Rally 4 drivers.
