Ghana is due to get a new president after December’s election.
The current vice-president, Mahamudu Bawumia, and a former head of state, John Mahama, are the two leading candidates in contention to win the poll.As of the end of the first quarter of 2023, Ghana's gross public debt was GH₵569.35 billion (US$51.67 billion), which is 71.1% of the country's GDP.
