Rare 300-carat diamond necklace with links to Marie Antoinette fetches €4.5m in Geneva auction
Composed of approximately 300 carats of old mine-cut diamonds, the historic piece was once worn during royal coronations and is rumoured to hold ties to the scandal that tainted Marie Antoinette’s reputation.
On Friday morning in Geneva, activists from the Femen group, known for its provocative demonstrations, used a chainsaw to cut up the wooden sculpture known as the "Broken Chair". They were protesting against the UN's failure to act against Russia.
