The group proposed exchanging all Israeli captives for Palestinian prisoners in a single exchange, aiming to secure a permanent truce and full Israeli withdrawal from Gaza. The ceasefire deal, brokered by Egypt, Qatar, and the US, began on January 19. In the first phase, Hamas agreed to release 33 hostages in return for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
