Notre Dame cathedral: Risen from the ashes

On 15 April 2019, the world watched in horror as flames ravaged Notre Dame cathedral in Paris.

After five years of extensive work, Notre Dame will once again welcome visitors and worshippers, following a sometimes challenging restoration process.

Some 250 companies, hundreds of experts and thousands of workers were mobilised, at a cost of nearly 700 million euros.

Thanks to a surge of support, the project was financed by 846 million euros in donations that poured in from 150 countries.
