Von der Leyen flies to Uruguay Mercosur summit amid French political turmoil
While the President of the European CommissionUrsula von der Leyen landed in Uruguay to finalize the Mercosur agreement, France, in the midst of a political crisis, continues to voice its opposition to the trade agreement.
The agreement reached by the European Commission contains new provisions which seek to respond to the opponents of the agreement. But the process that must follow the political agreement reached on Friday is far from a done deal for the European executive.
