Nobel Peace Prize winner Nihon Hidankyo calls for abolition of nuclear weapons
Three survivors of the U.S. atomic bombings of Japan collected the 2024 Nobel Peace Prize on Tuesday on behalf of Nihon Hidankyo, an organization that campaigns against nuclear weapons.
Former President Jimmy Carter, who passed away at the age of 100, leaves behind a remarkable legacy as the longest-lived US president. Carter, who served from 1977 to 1981, is perhaps best known for his role in brokering the historic Israel-Egypt peace accords in 1978, known as the Camp David Accords. Beyond his presidency, he dedicated his life to humanitarian work, founding the Carter Center and receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in 2002.
