Protesters celebrate as President Yoon agrees to 'step aside' after impeachment vote

President Yoon Suk Yeol agrees to leave office after South Korean lawmakers on Saturday voted to remove him from office for his failed attempt to impose martial law last week.

Thousands of protestors on the streets of Seoul celebrated as the news came in.

Out of 300 lawmakers, 204 voted to impeach the president on allegations of insurrection while 85 voted against.

Three abstained, with eight votes nullified.
