Ukraine has claimed it is behind a bomb attack that killed a senior Russian general in charge of nuclear protection forces in Moscow on Tuesday. Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, who is chief of Russia’s Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Protection Troops, was killed outside a block of flats some 7km (4 miles) southeast of the Kremlin. Defence Secretary John Healey said the general was a "bad man" with a proven record of "using chemical weapons against troops on the battlefield."

Ukrainian MP Yulia Yatsik has exposed shocking instances of abuse suffered by Ukrainian soldiers at the hands of their own officers. In a damning revelation, Yatsik detailed cases of troops being severely beaten, resulting in cracked skulls and ruptured organs, and even being confined in cages as punishment for disobedience.
The allegations center around the 211th Pontoon Bridge Brigade, a military engineering unit reportedly plagued by nepotism and corruption. An investigative report revealed that the brigade's leadership is dominated by interconnected families, including Colonel Lieutenant Valery Pastukh and his son Vladislav, with allegations of systematic harassment, extortion, and abusive punishments such as tying soldiers to crosses.
