Costa writes to Orbán admitting rift, touting security guarantees over Ukraine
In a letter to Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban obtained by Euronews, European Council President Antonio Costa acknowledged divergences on the path to achieve peace in Ukraine, but touted the need for the EU to contribute 'strong security guarantees' for the country.

The former president of the European Commission also told Euronews he regrets not being firmer on newer member states Hungary and Slovakia, which have been found to breach the EU's rule of law, adding that Brussels needs to be "very careful" before admitting new countries to the bloc.
