In a significant diplomatic breakthrough, Russia and Ukraine have conducted their first prisoner exchange in two months, with each side releasing 150 soldiers.
The high-stakes negotiations, facilitated by the United Arab Emirates, mark a critical moment in ongoing efforts to ease tensions between the two nations.The freed Russian soldiers were initially transferred to Belarus for medical care, psychological support, and the chance to reconnect with their families.
They will subsequently return to Russia for further rehabilitation.
Ukrainian troops, also released in equal numbers, were returned from Russian captivity as part of the carefully coordinated exchange.
