In a fiery political escalation, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took direct aim at Zohran Mamdani — the presumptive Democratic frontrunner in the New York City mayoral race — accusing him of embodying “radical” left-wing ideals. Labeling Democrats as “doubling down on craziness,” Leavitt claimed Mamdani's policies threaten the “very fabric of the country.”
The attack reflects growing Republican unease with Mamdani’s rising influence, particularly after his viral interview clip showed him eating biryani with his hands while championing Third World-inspired politics. With his open support for Palestine, socialism, and progressive reform, Mamdani has drawn praise and vitriol in equal measure. As Trump’s White House attempts to frame the 2025 elections as a choice between order and chaos, Mamdani is emerging as a lightning rod in the cultural and political battlefield. The clash signals a deeper national confrontation brewing around race, identity, and radicalism.

A Texas Republican Congressman, Brandon Gill, sparked outrage after making a racist remark against Indian-origin New York politician Zohran Mamdani for eating biryani with his hands. Gill reshared a video of Mamdani eating during an interview and wrote, “Civilized people in America don’t eat like this. Go back to the Third World.”
The video showed Mamdani discussing taboo topics in U.S. politics while calmly eating. Ironically, Gill is married to Danielle D’Souza, daughter of Indian-American commentator Dinesh D’Souza. Social media erupted, highlighting hypocrisy and sharing photos of Trump eating with his hands. Gill has a history of racist rhetoric, recently posting two contrasting pictures of Los Angeles to argue against immigration. Mamdani, born in Uganda and raised in NYC, was explaining how his worldview on Palestine is shaped by his Third World roots. The comment by Gill has triggered a larger debate on race, culture, and what defines “American values.”
