A Russian drone flew over Kyiv’s Mariinsky Palace on January 16, just minutes after the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived for high-stakes talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The drone incursion took place during the diplomatic visit, raising fears that it could have been an assassination attempt. Explosions were heard at 12:20 p.m. as Ukraine's air defense forces attempted to intercept the drone above the presidential residence. While no casualties or fires were reported, debris from the downed drone fell across five districts of Kyiv.
