Sir Keir Starmer and Volodymyr Zelenskyy have attended a drone exhibition on the day the prime minister signed a new "100-year partnership" agreement with his Ukrainian counterpart.
It is the first time Starmer has visited the country since he was elected as prime minister.

On the visit he met his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelenskyy to sign a new agreement which sets out co-operation between the countries that will stretch into the next century. One pupil asked Starmer to reveal his favourite football player, to which the Arsenal fan replied that it was Martin Ødegaard and that his "all-time favourite Arsenal player is Thierry Henry". A Russian drone flew over Kyiv’s Mariinsky Palace on January 16, just minutes after the UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer arrived for high-stakes talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. The drone incursion took place during the diplomatic visit, raising fears that it could have been an assassination attempt. Explosions were heard at 12:20 p.m. as Ukraine's air defense forces attempted to intercept the drone above the presidential residence. While no casualties or fires were reported, debris from the downed drone fell across five districts of Kyiv.
