Dr Shoo Lee, neonatal expert, and Mark McDonald, barrister, speaking at a presser presenting new evidence from neonatal experts which has casted doubt on some of Lucy Letby's convictions for murder and attempted murder.

Dr Lee has said there was no medical evidence of murder and that the medical evidence used to convict her was wrong.

Mr McDonald followed this up saying that if the evidence used to convict Letby was indeed incorrect, her conviction is "unsafe" and "no crime was committed".

'A completely alternative explanation for the deaths'

Senior Tory MP Sir David Davis has said that "new medical evidence" analysed by a medical expert panel could provide a "completely alternative explanation" for the death of seven babies. This comes as retired medic Dr Shoo Lee, who co-authored a 1989 academic paper on air embolism in babies – which featured prominently in Lucy Letby’s 10-month trial, chaired a panel of 14 experts who compiled an “impartial evidence-based report”, which casts doubt on some of the medical evidence used in the trial.
