The Baltic states connected to electricity supplied via Finland, Sweden and Poland after disconnecting from Russia, which had supplied them electricity for decades.
After meetings in D.C., JD Vance joined Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni for an Easter lunch in Rome. Meloni, who praised her "fantastic" White House meeting, reaffirmed her support for Trump’s stance against "woke ideology." Trump, who has been critical of the EU, made an exception for Meloni, his only invited EU leader in January. Meloni is pushing for U.S. tariffs on the EU to be reduced, promising increased gas purchases and Italian investments in the U.S. Trump accepted her invitation to meet European leaders in Rome, but no date has been set.
