Man jailed for life for murdering retired postmistress

A 70-year-old man has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 21 years for murdering a retired postmistress in Cambridgeshire in 2013.

86-year-old Una Crown was found dead at her home with cuts to her throat, stab wounds to the chest and her clothing burnt in her bungalow.

Speaking outside Cambridge Crown Court Detective Seargeant Simon Oldfield has hailed new DNA testing techniques as giving police the "vital breakthrough" needed to charge Newton with her murder, after his DNA was found on the victim's nail clippings.
