Masks, music, merrymaking at UNESCO-listed Czech Shrovetide carnival
Dozens of people wearing masks set out for the annual Shrovetide procession in the central Czech region of Hlinecko.
The tradition, unchanged since at least the 18th century, was inscribed in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage in 2010.
The processions bring together masks including a mare, knackers, Jews, Turks and chimney sweepers.
