Technology secretary Peter Kyle has addressed recent speculation that thousands of civil service jobs are set to be cut.
Sir Keir Starmer is set to deliver a speech on Thursday setting out an overhaul of the British state.
"A smaller, smarter state does mean adapting government and it will mean lowering the head count in some areas but it will also mean bringing in new digital skills as well," Mr Kyle said.
