Hamas now claims it has lost contact with the personnel guarding Israeli-American soldier Edan Alexander, captured on October 7. According to Al Qassam Brigades spokesman Abu Obeida, an Israeli airstrike directly targeted the location where Alexander was held, possibly killing his guards. Hamas accuses Israel of trying to eliminate hostages to reduce political pressure. Israel denies the allegations, stating all strikes are planned to avoid harming captives. The IDF continues operations in Gaza as uncertainty grows over the fate of Alexander. The situation remains tense and unclear.

President Trump has frozen over $2.2 billion in federal funding to Harvard University after it rejected White House demands targeting antisemitism on campus. The university refused sweeping changes that included federal oversight of governance, hiring, and admissions. Harvard's president argued the demands violated its independence and constitutional rights. The Biden-era push to enforce federal control through funding threatens academic autonomy. Harvard is the first to resistâwhile others like Columbia have already complied under pressure. Lawsuits are mounting as campus arrests intensify over pro-Palestinian protests nationwide.
