Reeves reiterates govt's pledge to build 1.5 million homes
The chancellor has reiterated the government's plan to build 1,500,000 homes over its first five years of power, to solve the UK's "desperate housing crisis".
Angela Rayner says changes to planning framework and new investment will help the government "ramp up" house-building to meet its pledge to build 1,500,000 homes before the next Parliament. Anneliese Dodds has resigned as international development minister over the decision to cut overseas aid to fund a boost to defence spending. Deputy prime minister Angela Rayner reacted as the news broke on Friday, saying she is "really sorry" to hear the news of the resignation. A 21-year-old criminology student has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 39 years for the murder of Amie Gray and attempted murder of Leanne Miles on Bournemouth beach. Nasen Saadi of Croydon, south London, fatally stabbed the 34-year-old physical trainer and seriously wounded her friend as the pair were enjoying a late-night chat at the Dorset seaside resort on 24th May last year. A 60-year-old woman appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Friday after being charged as part of an investigation into the alleged stalking of Madeleine McCann’s family.
