What is the difference between Concertos and Concerto Grosso?

Concerto Grosso is Italian for ‘big concert’ – it is a small group of soloists that share the melody between themselves, accompanied by the orchestra, most commonly heard in the Baroque era; whereas, in a traditional concerto a single solo instrument plays the melody line and is accompanied by the orchestra.
