Chancellor: I’m certain there’s a bright future for steel
The chancellor has said she is “certain” there’s a “bright future” for the steel industry in Scunthorpe during her visit to the British Steel plant.
Rachel Reeves confirmed talks with the company owner were unsuccessful and said “nothing is off the table” looking ahead, confirming that the government will play a “big role” in the future of steel in Scunthorpe.
