Government to counter China dam with Siang barrage: Arunachal CM

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 6 September 2023
According to CM Pema Khandu, the Centre intends to build a major barrage on the Siang river in Arunachal Pradesh to keep it "alive" in the face of potential threats from a massive dam being built by China upstream on the Yarlung Tsangpo river in the neighboring Tibet area. Responding to a Zero Hour question from Congress member Lombo Tayeng, the CM stated that China opted to build the 60,000MW dam in Tibet as part of its 14th five-year plan.
