India to host ‘Quad’ meet next year as China’s influence grows
New Delhi will host a meeting of the Quad early next year to counter China's growing influence in the Indo-Pacific region. The partnership, consisting of Japan, India, US and Australia, aims to find new areas of cooperation and convergence. Australia and India held a 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue, discussing intelligence sharing, trade, investments, and joint mapping of the Indian Ocean sea floor. They also signed a precursor to an Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement, with the Australian prime minister expected to visit India next year to finalize the agreement.
