The headline 'Adolf Lu Hitler arrested by John F Kennedy' in a newspaper instantly ignited nationwide interest due to the unmistakable similarity of the names involved. The unexpected twist? It wasn't the infamous German dictator being nabbed by the late American president's ghost, rather, the arrest of then NCP candidate Adolf Hitler by Superintendent of Police John F Kennedy during the assembly elections in Meghalaya in 2008.

West Bengal recorded the highest turnout till 5 PM at 77.57 per cent, followed by Tripura at 76.10 per cent. Voter turnout in Assam stood at 70.77 per cent, while Manipur recorded a voter turnout of 68.58 per cent till 5 PM.
