Blast rips through Shi'ite mosque in northern Afghanistan, 17 dead

At least seventeen people were killed and another 15 suffered severe injuries after a blast ripped through a Shi'ite mosque in northern Afghanistan during Friday prayers, according to hospital officials and eyewitnesses. The Taliban officials, however, claimed that only seven people were dead in the blast. There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack by any terrorist outfit.
