China agrees to nuclear arms-control talks with US: Report
Thursday, 2 November 2023 China and the United States are set to hold their first nuclear arms control talks since the Obama administration. The discussions, scheduled for next week, will focus on arms control and non-proliferation, as well as maritime affairs and other issues. The talks come after US officials expressed frustration over China's lack of interest in reducing nuclear weapons risks. China currently has over 500 operational nuclear warheads, a number that is expected to rise to over 1,000 by 2030.
