Internal documents show the World Health Organisation paid sexual abuse victims in Congo USD 250 each

IndiaTimes Tuesday, 14 November 2023
The World Health Organization (WHO) has paid $250 each to 104 women in Congo who were sexually abused or exploited by officials during the Ebola outbreak. However, the amount is less than what some UN officials spend in a single day, and the payments were conditioned on the women completing training courses. Many victims have received nothing, and the WHO admitted that about a third of the known victims were "impossible to locate." Critics argue that the payments are insufficient and that the WHO has not done enough to hold perpetrators accountable.
