Sudanese warring parties trade blame for damaged dam south of Khartoum

IndiaTimes Saturday, 18 November 2023
The Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces are blaming each other for a strike that damaged a bridge over the Jebel Awlia dam, risking major flooding of the White Nile. Recent weeks have seen other key infrastructure damaged in strikes, with both forces pointing fingers. Fighting in the Jebel Awlia area has displaced thousands, with reports of civilian casualties. The RSF has been expanding its control over Khartoum and the western Darfur region, strengthening its position in peace talks.
