Iceland PM says no country more prepared for volcano threat

Iceland's Prime Minister, Katrin Jakobsdottir, has stated that no other country is better prepared for natural disasters than Iceland, as the nation braces for a potential volcanic eruption near the capital city, Reykjavik. The residents of Grindavik were evacuated after earthquakes indicated an impending eruption. The Reykjanes peninsula has experienced three eruptions in 2021, suggesting a new era of volcanic activity in the region. The government's priority is to support the affected residents by ensuring adequate salaries and finding suitable housing for them.
