Brics urges immediate Gaza truce, South Africa slams Israeli 'genocide'

The BRICS group of nations, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa, called for an immediate humanitarian truce in Gaza during a virtual summit hosted by South Africa. South African President Cyril Ramaphosa accused Israel of war crimes and genocide in Gaza. The group expressed strong support for efforts to achieve a cessation of hostilities, protect civilians, and provide humanitarian aid. China has played a more active role in the Middle East this year.
