The factory has a history dating back to the 19th century and currently employs about 270 workers. The decision to close the facility was not taken lightly, according to a letter from the company to union officials. RemArms, the current version of Remington Arms, faced temporary closures, bankruptcy, and legal pressure following the Sandy Hook school massacre.
