Twitch to cease operations in South Korea due to soaring network costs

IndiaTimes Wednesday, 6 December 2023
Twitch will shut down operations in South Korea on February 27, 2024, due to high operating costs and network fees. The decision comes as a result of excessively high network usage fees in South Korea, which are ten times higher than in other countries. Twitch's closure aligns with the ongoing trend of global platforms facing challenges with South Korea's network usage fees. As Twitch exits the market, its competitor Afreeca TV experiences a surge in shares.
