Pakistan: Karachi city police chief seeks 20,000 personnel, PKR 100 million for election conduct

Karachi city police chief requested PKR 100 million for election-related expenses and over 20,000 personnel to overcome the shortage. The meeting discussed security measures, manpower allocation, and budget for the February 8, 2024 general elections. Additional manpower was requested from the Excise Department and other departments. A budget of PKR 100 million was estimated for security duty during the polling. The Election Commission of Pakistan issued the election schedule for the general polls set to take place on February 8, 2024.
