Russian tourists to visit north korea as borders reopen

IndiaTimes Friday, 12 January 2024
Russian tourists are set to become the first international travelers to visit North Korea since the country closed its borders in 2020. The visit is a result of growing cooperation between Moscow and Pyongyang. Tourists from Russia's Primorye region will fly to Pyongyang and visit landmarks like the Tower of Juche Idea. They will also visit the country's modern ski resort in Masik Pass. This move surprises observers who expected China, North Korea's ally, to be the first to send tourists. The reopening of borders aims to revitalize North Korea's economy impacted by the pandemic and international sanctions.
