France's farmer lobby turns up heat on government before talks
Monday, 22 January 2024 French farmers' representatives warned to escalate protests ahead of a meeting with the government to address concerns about price pressures, taxes, and green legislation, which are shared by farmers throughout Europe. Citing government tax on tractor fuel, cheap imports, water storage issues, price pressures from retailers and red tape as major grievances, the country's largest farm union FNSEA said it is considering nationwide protests in the coming weeks.
