Pakistan requests $2 billion financial assistance from China

Pakistan's dire economic situation requires long-overdue structural reforms to avoid financial default. Debt levels of nearly $125 billion, with one-third owed to China, are the primary cause of Pakistan's economic woes. Earlier, UAE and Saudi Arabia also gave loans to Pakistan. The interim government has approached International Monetary Fund for talks regarding the final tranche of a $1.2 billion loan.
